About the Official 2024 Royal Pageant

Baltimore BLAQ Pride has not crowned any Pride Royalty since 2019. Many community members have asked to revive this competition. We are excited to crown our new royalty for this upcoming season. The Official 2024 Royal Pageant is proudly produced by Blaq Equity Baltimore in partnership with the Icon Stacy Lanvin, the original promoter of this event.

The pageant will be held on Saturday, October 19 at 5:30 p.m. at Motor House. We will crown three titles:

Mr. Baltimore BLAQ Pride 2024

Mx. Baltimore BLAQ Pride 2024

Up to five (5) contestants will be accepted for each contest. Contestants will be confirmed on a first-come basis, meaning, the first 5 applicants to submit a full and complete application will be considered the official contestants.

​

The pageant will feature three categories:

• Presentation: each contestant will present themselves to the audience and judges in an outfit/costume that embodies the spirit of Black LGBTQIA+ Pride in Baltimore.

• Talent: each contestant will showcase a talent of their choice. Talent performances must be six (6) minutes or less, which includes set-up and breakdown of any props or stage elements.

• Evening Wear w/ Q&A: each contestant will present themselves in evening or formal wear and will respond to one on-stage question.

More details about judging and categories will be provided to the official contestants once they are identified.

​

To be eligible to compete, you must:

• identify as Black/African-American

• identify as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community

• live in Baltimore City

​

Winners in each category will receive:

• $600 cash prize ($300 upon winning + $300 upon successful completion of your reign)

• An official crown and sash

• A minimum of three booking guarantees (valued approximately at $400) from Blaq Equity Baltimore at community events during the year of your reign

​

As Official Baltimore BLAQ Pride Royalty, as a condition of your reign, you will be required to:

• Represent Baltimore BLAQ Pride and Blaq Equity Baltimore at selected community events

• Serve as an official community ambassador for Black LGBTQIA+ Baltimoreans, keeping the board and staff of Blaq Equity Baltimore informed about community needs and priorities

• Participate in at least one (1) community service event during your reign

• Raise at least $1000.00 to benefit Baltimore BLAQ Pride during your reign

• Attend the Official 2025 Royal Pageant to step down from your title

• Represent Baltimore BLAQ Pride, Blaq Equity Baltimore and the community of Black LGBTQIA+ Baltimoreans in a manner consistent with the mission, vision and values of our organization.
